So did you get plugs or did you not get plugs? And you don't know where spark plugs go??

If you just bought new sparkplugs, they will go at the end of each sparkplug wires.

Carlton, I recommend you take your truck to a shop to have the work done to it. Ask if you can watch while they do it and I'm sure they'll accomodate you. Even though people make sparkplug changes out to be simple, It's sometimes hard to maneuver in the close quarters of the engine bay. And if you break a spark plug off in the head........that could be really bad.

yes, i bought the spark plugs....

I just do not know where they go...i mean i have a general idea, however, i've never done ANY engine work on my explorer before. I see where the wires go and all 6 meet up......but in order to take plugs out...do you just screw them off, etc? Do you guys know how much it would run me to get new plugs installed?

Carlton,

Last time I had the work done it cost me 45 bucks, which was one hour of labor.

Carl - stop and take it in. If you're asking if all yo do is unscrew them and screw them in, then you may be asking for a bigger job than you can handle. The first time I ever changed out the plugs on my first car (Plymouth Reliant), I stripped it out, it was rusted to all heck. It cost me over $400 to have that one single plug re-tapped. So, let the pros do this one, it's just not worth it.

ekkk....yah, i guess i'll let the pros do it!

O.k. guys dont scare the dude. Listen get a haynes or chiltons manual at any parts store made for your X, they can help you find it. In the manual it tells you how to change the plugs and wires and gices you tips on what to look for on the plugs. It is not a hard job just different the first time you ever do it. I think I had the most pain in the butt car ever (300zx). I needed a special spark plug tool that came with car and there was no way of getting them without it. Just take your time and read ahead of time to get familiar. Rmember anybody can do anything, just may take a little longer then most. Or like said before ask the mechanic to show you so you get an idea the next time around. Atleast your not asking how to change oil.
