Does anyone know if Ford changed this function on the '99 Premium Sound system? I tried several different ways to invoke this feature but to no avail. I have the am/fm, single cassette and cd with the 6-disc changer in the ctr console.
This feature is suppose to adjust your volume according to city/highway speeds.

Oh I'm sorry I forgot to mention that someone on the Ford Explorer NG posted this:

According to Audio Guide that comes with '98 Model -
"Speed sensitive volume"

"With this feature, radio volume changes automatically and slightly with
vehicle speed to compensate for road and wind noise.

"Press and hold the VOL control for five seconds, then press < on SEL
control to decrease or shut off the volume compensation and > to increase
volume compensation"

SECRET Speed Sensitive Volume

Just read a newsgroup post from someone saying they have this feature although it's not documented in the manual. Suprise!! It works! Just hold in the volume knob for >5 secs while the radio is on, and adjust the level with the select buttons!
I'm not sure what other year/models are involved, but mines a 2000 XLT with the Mach 1.

do you guys know if this works on a 95, or 97?

DOn't know what years are involved, but to check it, push and hold the volume knob for about 5 secs. The display will read "SPEED VOLUME 0". The settings range from 0 to 7.

If your radio looks like this Dead Link Removed then you have speed controled volume and is controlled like mentioned above.
