Thanks for having me ... New member with a 2007 sport trac and loving it !!
I have had it this it was new .... never a regret !!

It's been giving me a problem difficult for me to diagnose - and dealer just changed the crank sensor ...

On hard accelerations - 3/4 to full throttle - she falls on her face - looses power and appears to shift into high gear - Puts a wrench on the dash with no codes that i can see ...... took to the dealer like this and like i said they changed the crank sensor. I can make this happen every time i mat the accelerator...

thoughts are electrical and wonder if throttle servo motor may be the cause ?
I will start with the simpler - time for a fuel filter and plugs ... but mainly because it's time

Any thoughts would be appreciated - I have looked for other's with the same issue but haven't had any luck finding a similar condition ...

THANKS ALL !!

Dave

It sounds like the PCM is misinterpreting the throttle position and is locking the TCC early. (torque converter clutch)

Does the rpm drop with the apparent up-shift?

Try disengaging OD stomp on it and see if the TCC still locks early, shouldn't lock till 45mph.

All that being said if the Throttle position sensor is trowing bad info to the PCM you can get poor shifting. not to mention engine performance.

The TPS can be out of spec without causing a fault that trigger's a CEL

I will try it in the morning ... THANKS and will let you know ...

your suggestions sound very possible ...

Dave

Thanks FR 425 ....... tried to disengage the OD and still threw a wrench at me - was on the interstate - i stomped on it at about 50 seems to have taken longer but at about 65 - 70 RPM drops like you mentioned and shifts into high gear - OD off I can clear the code by shifting to neutral, turning off ignition and restarting ...... all back to normal but don't advise it for the novice ..

So my question ...would you suggest replacing the TPS ?

thank you
Dave

Yep that sounds like it.

What's the code your getting?
