Hello All,

I've been having an issue with my truck not starting sometimes. This has been happening on and off for a few years now. When I turn the key to start the engine I just hear a click and then all the cab lights and dash lights go out with the exception of the theft light on the dash. When this happens I found that if I wiggle the positive battery cable right near the positive battery terminal it will then start most the time.

I have checked the battery for voltage (it's good), cleaned the terminals (both negative and positive), and replaced the cable terminals. It has been getting worse more recently.

Has anyone experienced this issue before with their own Sport trac or Explorer? Any feedback or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Replace that battery cable, I'd start with the ground side though as it was where my issue was. I had a 2000 mountaineer with a 6 month intermittent no start which finally was fixed when I was replacing and upgrading my cables.

Thanks for the reply boomin. Sounds like a good place to start.
