I am looking for the sprung weight of Primarily the Front of a 1st gen 4dr. That is the weight without any suspension or axle.

Anybody weigh theirs, or run coilovers on the front? I'm trying to decide if the 2.0 Fox Airshox will work for the front of My 91X when I do the SAS.

They state a max #1000 per corner sprung weight (static) Thoughts?

You're explorer weighs approx. 4300 lbs and most of that weight is up front. I don't know the exact figures but 1k lbs air shocks aren't gonna cut it up front.

Are you shure? I would say the front end alone weighs atleast 300 lbs with wheels. Now lets say a conservitive 250 for the rear axle with wheels. I think they may infact be around 1k unsprung in the front.

Unspring weight is the weight of all the suspension, A Arms, tires, wheels etc. Thats the weight the suspension does not support. The sprung weight is the weight of the vehicle.

I was figuring about 1250 per front corner when I came up with my coilover spring rates and they're perfect.

I know Fox is coming out with a 2.5 air shock, though I don't know its load rating. I assume this is not going to be daily driven?

Good lord everyone thinks I dont know anything today. I am well aware of unsprung weight. I was stating rough weights for what you would subtract to get the unsprung weight. IE you would subtract the weight of everything below the springs.

That's about what I was thinking. 1200-1300 or so per corner.
I had dibs on a set of 2.0's run once for $300 Charged and everything. Would buy them for the back, but I plan to stay with leaves.

It's gonna be a mostly trail rig, but some street. Not DD....

BTW 2.5's are still only rated for 1200 I think.

the 2.0 shocks are rated at 1000 Lbs at 15* angle. YUOu can mount them straight up and down and get a few more lbs out of them.

the 2.5 shocks will do 250 at a 15* angle. Same deal you can add a few lbs of capacity to them by pointing straight up and down.

Sway-a-Way (the shocks im using wiht my SAS) have the 2.0's rated at 1300 and the 2.5's rated for 1500 lbs. The SAW shacks cost about 100$ mor eper shocks though.

Walker Evans

anyone out there know anything about the walker evans air shocks? i can not find any info on them as far as how much weight they are able to support (per shock).
