My "HVAC" system heating fan etc on my 2001 limited emits a terrible squeal seems to be random for example when switching from floor/defrost to just floor, all of a sudden a very high pitched squeal or whistle comes from insdie my dash. if I go back to whatever function it was in the squeal stops.
By going to a different funciton, "vent" for example, and then to "floor" I can get to floor without squealing. WTF!! Any ideas??
What is inside the dash that has to do with changing air flow between the different vent configurations would make such a terrible squeal. It almost sounds electronic like a beep from a home security system panel or something, but it is constant. when it happens the squeal kind of ramps up, and is then steady until I undo the request I made for a new air flow position. so is there a small electric motor/selenoid used in switching air flow paths that would make a noise if it was stuck or something?
