I went to ford today with my pride hanging out and asked if they could help identify my squealing problem, Its not the slide pins because I have lubed them twice, they said it was the hub seals so I told them that I heard that ford didnt have a fix for that yet but they said that for has recently come out with a fix he said a lot of squealing gets blamed on the brakes but it is almost always the hub seals, he wants 170 bucks to replace both fronts, does anybody have any comments?

There's the ford hubs for you. This happens alot. The hubss heat up and melt the seal. This causes the hubs to be shot. Time for new hubs. Check out http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com they've got some other hubs for about 250 I think.....or warn has a set of manual ones for about 180. The manual ones are what I would chose. They're stronger but you need to get out to lock them in.

Leebo, Rednose has a '98 which does not have the infamous auto-hub setup of the 91-94's. It's a whole different design. There is no manual hub for 95+. My '99 had the squeal last winter. Usually happens when cold. Had the hub seals and dust boot covers replaced under warranty, haven't heard the squeal since.

OOPS. I missed that one. You're right. My bad. I'm just so used to seeing a hub go bad and right away I guess it's a early explorer. Sorry.
