I need some help with a bit of a problem I have. I am a new owner of a 95 Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition and have had it for about 8 weeks. My problem is SOMETIMES when ever I start my car there is a squeking noice in the front of my car and I think its somewhere in the engine area. Please not that it likes to squeek alot when its cold. I thought maybe it was just the tires or something but it still squeeks even when I am idle at a stoplight. The squeek while at idle is a very slow squeek but when my RPM's go up its gets really fast. It wont stop! Recently the idler my fan belt goes onto fell off my car while I was driving and my power steering went out and hell broke loose. So I thought maybe it was the fanbelt or something. Get it fixed new idler and new fanbelt, same noise. I have no idea what it is. Any ideas?

Airconditioner clutch? Mine squeeling got worse and worse as the clutch wasn't disengaging.

do a search for the IAC, i think this is what is the problem on my dads ranger as well....

I have the same problem... it is the serpentine belt. It should go away once some heat builds up in the belt. I've replaced mine 4 times in the past 3 years and I still get it at times... it could be the idler spring is bad. However my idler spring feels fine and I still get the noise. It is weird that it keeps doing that for a while... mine usually stops after 30 seconds or so.

A new belt WILL reduce the noise tho.

yup it is your serpentine belt get a gatorback they are the best
