I noticed that if I try to restart the engine after it has been off for about 1 minute, it will crank but won't start. If I let it cool down a few minutes, it will start. It has done this when I stop to open my gate at home, then when I try to restart it to enter the driveway - it won't start and I have to sit there a few minutes before trying again. I have replaced the idle valve and the coil pack. I also replaced the battery and alternator recently but this problem occured a few times before then and has occured several times since. There does appear to be plenty of cranking power. I have hearing loss and can't tell if the fuel pump is starting or not (is there a way to tell besides listening for it?).

Thanks for any advice.

Have you tried turning the key to "on", waiting 5 seconds, then trying to start? It may just be vapor in the fuel system that the pump needs to overcome to pressurize the system.

I have the same problem just go under the hood and wiggle the fule pump relay go and start it again and it should start normally
