Took the X in tuesday for oil and Antifreeze change. I told my macanic that i think that i have a Tie-rod going bad. The truck has been sounding really bad it is creaking squeeking and just sounded bad. He called me and said that the stearing rack was bad. Anybody else have this problem. what would the the cause be beside part just going bad???

I haven't heard of that before. I'd check all the suspension components real good before replacing a rack. I'm not a front end guy so i could very well be wrong.

a whole rack going bad is rare but not completely uncommon. With in the rack it's self there are not a lot of servacable parts so that is where the wrench in the fan comes.

I would take it to another shop or two.
Mention the symptoms only.

Something is bad in mine, it leaks fluid out from the drivers side tie-rod. Gotta get it changed, parents aren't liking the spots on the garage floor :(
