97 mountaineer 5.0
Finally putting my stereo system together. The system is going to be totally stealth! All speaker placement have been figured out , including the sub placement. The only problem is I can't figure out where to put my amps. Am working with a 97 mountaineer and would apericate any suggestion for amp placement ,which would adhere to stealth system. P ictures of any setups would be a help.

I mounted a fairly large Audiobahn amp under my rear seat. I had to fab up some brackets, and then I pop riveted the brakets to the seat frame and screwed the amp to that.

That looks strikingly familiar!!!:D ;) :D

Yea I have to give you the credit for that one, Kmac...Thanks for the idea!!!

Did you get both amps mounted under the seats?

Have you had any problems?

No, I only have one amp, but it is pretty big. I can't fold the seat all the way down because the amp hits the tranny hump. But the seat only sticks up like an inch farther than the other one. Other than that I didn't have any problems.

Where were you planning on mounting the subs? I had my amp in the back corner where the cargo pocket is. I just made a bracket and with the pocket removed mounted it in that hole. I went to a junkyard and found a new cover that was used when it has a sub mounted there. it worked out really good because i mounted that with magnets and i could see the amp power light through the mesh previously covering the sub. Now i have the amps mounted behind the 60 side of the rear split bench seat. the way they are mounted they are out of sight when the seat is up and when you fold the seat down the flap fits right under the amp to make it look clean and hide the wires. I had a fan mounted in both places to help keep the amps cool. Major

How do you get that trim off in the cargo area...... i seem to be having some problems. I pulled hard and pryed with a screw driver, but i broke something so i'm reluctant to try again............

do you mean the whole panel or just the pocket. well to take off the whole side just pull out the round push in fasteners. then look at the bottom under the carpet and you will see two small tabs there. one is at the back close to the cargo door and the other is about at the second hook in the cargo area. you need to take out both of those screws. that should give you enough room to pull the panel back to get to the pocker fasteners. you will see little white shim looking things stuck in the back holding the pocket to the large plastic wall. just pop those out and the pocket will pull out the front. they are a pain to get out but the install looks pretty good and there is alot of room. to take the rest of the big panel off you will need to take the seatbelt off with a torx tool and then just take off the screw with in the cloths hanger and thats it. its alot easier than it sounds just take your time and dont get frustrated.
