Greetings, recent problem or has it been doing it for a while? Have you recently had the cars front end on jacks and turned the steering wheel or turned the steering wheel with the car off?

There was a TSB for the ST having a steering shimmy in the wheel. Maybe carries over to the EX too. Exaggerated by larger tires or specific road surfaces. Something about pump output and operating temp. It felt like over assist, then kickback about 5-8 times per second on mine. I decided to "wait it out" and it went away, never to return. I'd look in the reservoir. If it's not aerated and not contaminated then get it off the ground and turn the wheels. Gone=good.

I just bought the truck and it didnt do it at first. it took about 2 days. Im gonna check the ps resevoir and see if its low but it feels too weird to be a power steering thing. . and it doesnt do it everytime. but most of the time it does. only when going slow. Even 3 mph just steering wheel vibrates. Im decent when it comes to mechanichal work on a car or truck but ive never seen this before. BTW, this is my first 4x4.

Does this happen as you apply the brakes? Or no even without applying the brakes? If only with the brakes applied, then your rotors could be getting warped and need to be replaced.

I have had mine (03 XLT 4.0 4x4) in the shop several times for this same problem that they can NOT duplicate. It's gotten very frustrating. It, to me, acts like the control track thinks one wheel is slipping so the rest are catching. I unplugged the 4x4 control module (small black box under the glove box with 2 large plugs). when i have the 4x4 disconnected this does NOT happen. Try doing that, and let me know if it's still doing it. It sounds like we're having the same problem. only when pulling in and out of a parking spot do i notice this. Let me know :)

i have an 05 XLT 4.6L w/ trac. cont. and i am experiencing a similar issue. when making a tight turn, as from a parking space or turning around in a smaller space, it feels as if the wheels/tires are beeing pushed or folded/rolled over. not sure if this is the same thing but it seems like we are describing the same problem. i know i have a front hub that has started 'whirring' and that is going to be addressed as well as this problem. i am thankful i have the extended service plan.
