2002 Sport to 2000 sport, yes. 2002 4-door to 2000 4-door, no.

ok well im not 100% what they came off of, i just assumed because they had 1 in the drive when i picked up the steps. u can adjust where the brackets go. & i held them up under the truck & the holes on the truck do line up with the bottom holes on the bracket. these are the 1s i picked up

Might be ok then...

These are the 2002+

And the Gen II XLT Sport bars:

Looking at them, they look the same. :dunno: Maybe I had bad info for years now, maybe they do swap... Worth a shot- I've always heard no, but they sure do look similar...

maybe i do have the Gen 2, they do look more like those. i see the 02s+ dont have the curve on the back & the Gen2's dip down from the ends while the other stays straight all the way across. i know the bottom holes all line up. what do i use just regular nuts & bolts or is there some special 1s i need.

There are bolts and speed nuts that hold them on, the top bolt will fasten into a nut that is already in your truck. They may have rubber caps over them if you haven't had boards/bars on from the factory. The red one(s):

The two bottom ones have speed nuts that clip over the rocker panel, and the bolts go into them. Here you can see the speed nuts on the bottom of the rocker panel. 2 for each bracket...

The speed nuts look like these, only a little beefier:

Sorry, I don't know what size the bolts are...
