So I have an aftermarket head unit installed. The other week I was trying to hook up some new speakers in the front and went to turn the key on and nothing. No power to the head unit. Checked all the fuses in the driver door panel, one 25 amp was blown. Replaced it but still nothing. The I realized the doors aren't locking automatically like the used to when you would take the car out of park. I have also found that the mister will mist when you press it and the wipers will wipe, but as soon as you stop pressing it in the blades will stop. Unlike when they used to wipe about three more times.

Maybe some automated module?

I just found your pretty bada$$ forums while trolling for somewhere to give some input into my mishap. I have checked out the "Whoops!!" section along with a few others and it seems you have a pretty cool family here. Thinking about sticking around for a while :)

Any help would be appreciated since my main job ATM is a delivery/catering Driver. My radio is my friend/lover/life. I live for music and I love my car. I have a digi camera if you need pics of anything and I can go dig around cables and such if you have any advice. Not afraid to get my paws muddy. :) But yeah, i'm just rambling now so if you need any more info just let me know.

Again,

MUCH THANKS AND welcome me to the forums :)

P.S. I am located in Waco, Texas. If any of you are from the area chat me up.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
There is an accessory delay module/relay, this is what will keep the wipers sweeping for a couple more cycles after you release the mist function. Were you checking inside the door panel for your fuses? The fuse for your stereo power should be tied in to power somewhere in the fusebox on the driver's side, under the dash. Was the aftermarket HU connected to the stock harness using a harness adapter or were the modular plugs cut off so the HU could be hooked with to the wires?

The 2001 Explorer has the Accessory Delay module built into the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) it's referred to as the CTS or Central Timer Module. The fuses for the factory radio are 7.5 amp, fuses 20, 28 and 29 in the central junction box, it's under the dash on the drivers side, just to the left of the steering column.

Oh thank you baby Jesus :) I will check the fuse box under the dash tomorrow morning!!!!! I only checked the fuses under the hood and in the drivers side panel. I had no clue about the box under the steering column! Right now chillin with the bros killin a 40 :)

the fuse panel for a 01 should be on the side of the dash and is covered when the door is closed on the drivers side. did you install the h.u. or did a shop do it for you?

Harness adapter bought from a shop.

I installed it.

Still lying in bed. Just woke up. I'll repost with my findings in a few to see if it was the fuse under the dash.

the only thing i can suggest is, yes, check your fuses first. i am not sure if there is a in line fuse in the aftermarket harness that you have or not as well. the other thing is if it is a blown fuse, you might also want to see why it blew as well. make sure you don't have any power wires that are touching bare metal. that an also make sure you have a good ground. i know all i mentioned is pretty common sense, and strait forward stuff, but hey, sometimes the obvious is overlooked!

If you find a fuse was blown, replace only with a fuse of the same rating. Obviously there was a reason it blew and you need to correct that first.
You don't want to replace the fuse with one with a higher current rating or you could end up frying your HU or the wiring or both.
