Due a compression ck and see if you have base engine problem.

I am going to try a new coil pack from another truck....

The diagnostic check is like $150. Where as the coil pack is $25 and is a 5 minute swap.

If that doesn't lead me right, then diagnostic it is...

Replaced Coil Pack... same thing...

A friend of mine said he had a 2001 dodge Dakota... that misfired and got **** gas mileage, similar to what I am having, and it turns out his catalytic converters were bad...

I asked him to give me his thoughts...

He went around to the rear of my exhaust while truck was running, tried to cup his hand over the exhaust and said it was too hot to do that, which isn't normal.

Is it possible that clogged catalytic converters could be the issue? Cam Pos Sensor??

I am getting diagnostic done this up coming weekend but I just want everyones input.

Coil packs.

150 bucks for a diagnostic fee is alot of $$

You can buy the obd II diagnostic for less than that.

And ya have it forever

The tool I bought cost 135 and it monitors everything while running
then gives me a report when I hit the button

Thats not what I am talking about...

the diagnostic covers a compression test, fuel injector test... basicly to pin point the issue.. which is what I should have done to begin with.

I would have bet the farm!

Since #1 and #5 share a coil I can't imagine it being something other than the coil pack......

I have replaced the coil pack.

I plan on having the fuel pressure tested this weekend.

Just cleaned the MAF, no change.

It backfires consistently. I still have a bank 1 lean code too (EVEN AFTER THE UPPER & LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS) and 3 misfire codes.

A/C works, I had that recharged since its like 100% humidity and 105* outside.

At this point its an issue with either Vacuum or Fuel. What are the most common issues with Vacuum on this truck?

I have the same issue on mine its a 99 XLT 4.0 OHV
Changed:
Plugs
Wires
Coil Pack
Fuel Filter
Air Filter

sooo now im thinking Cam Sensor or Cadillac converter
