Howdy. Seems the stock CD head unit in my '93 Limited is finally dying. When warm, it cuts out when you hit bumps. It's like a CD skipping, but it does the same on FM/AM. The clock doesn't cut out, so it's still getting power (not a power/ground problem) and like in the morning (maybe 20 degrees, even in the barn) it's fine. When the heat's on, it'll do the malfunction. Even hitting the top of the dash hard will make it cut out. Note though, that if I set the climate control to full cold for a minute or two, it's fine.

So my head unit is bad. My truck's got the JBL factory system (8 speakers and the 6.5'' sub). I might be the only one to ever say it, but I want to keep my factory speakers. Why? It still kicks butt. It sounds good and none of them are blown. I drive everyday at a medium volume and they still haven't blown or deteriorated. Can I NOT bypass it with an aftermarket head unit?

Sure, my GT is in storage, with the Pioneer AVH-P6400 but I don't like swapping head units between vehicles :(

Thank you.

Im in the same boat

I have a 94 Limited with the same sound system. I think it sounds fine except for the rear subwoofer...it is trashed and I am looking for one now to replace it with. I want a new head but I like the specs on the JBL system...do I need to just get a new MP3 compatable head and use the 30 buck adapter to keep using as much of the factory JBL system as possible ??

Thanks
Dwight P

Still going to need a 4.0 engine in the future. :D
