Are the stock V8 headers the same for all years? Like, are the V8 headers off a 1998 the same as on my 2001?

I'm not sure if the 98 and 2001 are the same, but there are 2 different types, cast and tubular, I think.

The ERG setups are different too. One was Built into the head, the other attached to the header. I think!

I think your right.

you both are right

You are correct. 1996 and early 1997 have "internal" EGR; mid to late 1997 5.0 and on had the external, which requires a "bung" attachment on the passenger side header to attach the external EGR tube. The headers are physically interchangeable, except the bung needs plugged on the internal EGR system if present, and needs added if not present for the external variety.

So, are the cast manifolds interchangeable with the tubular units?

So if I were to say, buy a set of 1998 manifolds to use as a model for a set of custom headers, would that work? I just mean as far as the same dimensions of the pipes.

They are the same dimensionally the same. You would want the tubular style to copy. There is a weak area on them that cracks. You should look into that, and let the fabricator know about it.
