I am looking to replace my stock woofer in my 2001 Limited with a aftermarket woofer. I will be using the stock amp and also the same woofer location. Do any of you guys have some recommendations? Thanks in advance.

MTX and Fosgate I believe make 6.5" woofers that fit and sound good.

Just upgrade. I dont want to get into the whole Amp thing with this explorer. Just looking for a better woofer.

With the size of that woofer and the low power of that amp,I don't think you are gonna see much improvement by just swaping the speaker to make it worth the money. But maybe someone here has a better idea on that.

Are you going to keep you using the stock sound system (amps/dash unit) or do you have a receiver with its own amp for the speakers? I upgraded my receiver and it had a built in amp that sounded soo much better than the stock amp for the speakers, so I bypassed the stock amps. As a result, I had no choice but to get an aftermarket amp anyway so I could use my new woofer. And you will most likely want a more powerful amp to go with an aftermarket woofer. I upgraded mine to a Fosgate and I use a 150x1 Fosgate amp and it sounds a lot more powerful for a 6.5."

Not to change the subject, but how do you like your new tires and wheels?

I am thinking about replacing mine as well. My speaker seems to "buzz" when the radio is on. I am not sure if it the specific frequency of certain songs or what.

I will keep the 6-disc HU and will eventually get to replacing the stock speakers. Is it possible to replave the stock amp with something, but use factory wiring?

Lastly, does the stock amp use speaker-voltage to amplify, or does the pioneer actually have pre-amp outs?
