I have a 1995 explorer 4x4, If i shift from park down to drive I get almost nothing, when i say almost i mean if you rev it up it will eventually start moving slowly, now if i go down to 2 that works great, then down to 1 that works great too, then if i go back to drive it works absolutely fine,so basically Park to Drive and i get nothing, but park right down to 1 or 2 and right back drive it works great, any ideas or help please respond

??? weird, my tranny has a delay before it shifts but thats it, hows your tranny fluid level?

tranny level is fine, and very clean after changing it 3 times in the last month

well im at a loss, my tranny did somting similar to that before it died :(

My tranny did the exact same thing. Then after awhile 1 & 2 didnt work either. When we opened up the tranny the fluid smelled burned and was black. Just paid 1,200 bucks for a new tranny and has been fine ever since. Mines a 97 SOHC and a Second Generation
Xplor just like yours..........Must be the Second Gen thing

whoops, i never knowticed it was a second gen :P my tranny did the same thing as your did offroad :P, if felt like there was no power in drive but in one it felt like a champ, then 2 and 1 started to die and then i was driving back to town in first gear...

Its so nice......Us second Gen guys all have the same problems, and waste thousands of dollars on Fords dumb old trannys that dont even die the right way. They have to tease us and die slowly. Poor poor us.
Next time one dies i think im gonna :shoot: it

amen, if it dies again im going standard "oh the power of standard"

I'm looking at maybe swapping a chevy tranny in there, I heard its not too hard and im gonna talk to some people.
AND of course if all else fails, go standard !!!
