Strange Hum?

I am hearing a strange hum from my 92 xlt. It happens when traveling at speeds between 50 and 75 MPH. It is the loudest at a speed of around 70 to 72, then dissapears after 75 MPH. I thought maybe transmission at first, but i checked the fluid and it is ok. No change in performance or fuel economy. I resently bought BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. Could these tires be causing the noise? Any thoughts would be helpful.
