Stuck in 4-low - HELP!

i recently obtained a 94 with electronic 4-wheel drive that was stuck in 4-low. After checking all the fuses and what not i could not find the problem. I removed the electic motor from the transfer case and shifted it to 2-high manually and then had to run a jumper wire from the battery to re-align the gears to re-install the motor. Does anyone know where the hidden relay or whatever device that controls the shift motor may be found?

transfer case controller is located ahead of jack compartment, not uncommon in our neck of the wood to get damaged from water and slop coming through rust holes in the left rear wheel well

you have to hold the brake and put your truck in netrul to get in or out of 4lo.
