sub woofer

Has anyone successfully replaced the JBL sub woofer speaker? The amp is fine, but the speaker just started vibrating like the diaphragm is broken.

I have a '92, and appreciate your help!

Check all the screws, mine had rattled some loose and that caused the sub to make a rattleing noise...

I had the same problem with the factory sub I have. I thought it was screws so I tightened them but the rattle was still there. So I told my dad to look at it and he found the little wires from the magnet to the actual woofer was breaking up so he cut off a little bit of the wires and soldered them onto the woofer. Now it sounds just like new. I hope this helps.

The "loose" parts of the speaker are internal, so I couldn't identify them easily. But! The Ford dealer had a replacement JBL speaker for $64.

So tomorrow I will have a new one.

I'm surprised the dealer carried that.
