Okay, here is the situation. I was making a right turn, and wanted to catch up to this girl. I was shifting right around 3500 rpm (manual Trans) out of first and second, and at about 3000 out of third. I got up to about 60 maybe 65, and had to slow down to turn right at a stop light. I pushed in the clutch, pulled it out of fourth, and applied the break. All of a sudden, the wheel locked up, the Check Guage light came on, and I looked at the oil pressure guage, and it was all the way at the low side. I turned off the engine, and restarted it. It didn't kick back on right away, the starter just cranked a couple of times, then the engine kicked back on.

I puleed into the gas station there, checked for dripping oil, and made sure the people at wal-mart didn't screw me by adding less oil then they should. Everything checked out.

Does anyone know what would have caused this???????? Keep in mind, I am more of a sound and body guy, not an engine guy. My friend that does engine owrk is out of town, and I haven't been able to get ahold of him.

when you say, "The wheel locked up," are you talking about the steering wheel, or something else?

If it's the steering wheel you're referring to, it sounds like when you pushed the clutch in, the engine stalled instead of returning to idle. Could be caused by a bad IAC valve, or any number of other things. If it only did it this one time and never does it again, I wouldn't worry about it. Freak occurrence. If it happens more often, start looking.

Wow, that is good stuff to hear.

When you said IAC valve, my heart jumped. I am replacing mine today. It does that whistling thing that is mentioned on a lot of other posts.

I'll try replacing that and get back to you.

By the way, I was refering to the steering wheel.

Yeah, then it sounds like the oil pressure dropped because the engine stalled, not the other way around, and when the IAC was stuck in the closed position (which it is at steady-state cruising speeds) it wouldn't idles. It would also explain the lack of re-start as well.
