Well after a few months of prioritizing repairs and maintenance, i´ve finally gotten to the point where having a working clockspring was the most essential repair, since i´ve succeded in to geting my truck into great conditions.

After searching a lot, i found a ford dealer with the appropriate clockspring for my model (2001 xls without cruise or stereo controls), every freakin´parts place and other dealers wanted to sell me the most expensive clockspring (like 40 bucks difference), but well... after buying the part, i went to one of my two trusted car repair shops, (i would normally have this done by myself, but lately i´ve been pretty pretty busy), and asked for a couple of other minor adjustments.

I wanted them to change the clockspring, to replace like 4 blown bulbs from the cluster, to clean the cluster servos, to clean in between the cluster display and the acrylic part (lost of dust build up and mosquitoes), to adjust the gear indicator needle and the gear selector as well (a bit of play and needle slightly to the left). And to add a couple of screws from the dash that i managed to loose. Scan it, checked the o2 sensor lines.

And after all that, because of being a constant and loyal costumer, they just charged me like $34 and they had it done in like one morning.

And for like the half of those things, the dealer wanted $300!!!!!--...... men gotta love good old fashined good hearted mechanics!!!! :):D

oooohh and the best part...... no more ding ding ding ding ding ding ding every 30 min., new flashy light bulbs all over the dash (now i love to open the switch before starting it and see all the little lights on!!! and i can honk the hell out of dumb drivers!!!! Men was i used to shift with a loose gear selector .....

Sorry for the long post... i just felt like sharing!!!:D:D

I paid my guy $150 to change out the hub and CV Axle on my mountaineer and it was done it less then half a day.

mom & pop shops are the way to go.
