just to let ya'll know i have a 97 ford explorer w/69,000 miles and the ohv engine and for the last month the idle has been surging, and at start up would shoot up around 2500rpm and the sit there till warmed up then slowly drop down and start looking for a stable idle. if you turned on the a/c or heat the idle would shoot up again around 2500rpm and stay there them come back down to around 500rpm then shoot up again it also did this everytime i put it in gear or took it out of gear the. this is my wifes vehicle so i haven't messed with it till last week. i changed the (IAC sensor) idle air control sensor, and it fixed the surging idle but not the high idle still jumps up to 2500 rpm as soon as the gas was applied so this led me to beleive the TPS was bad (Throttle position sensor) but i then decided to call ford and they told me my vehicle wasn't getting warm enough so the computer was kicking in the iac to up the idle to warm the vehicle up so i cahnged the thermostat and now the vehicle gets warmer, (it was stuck open) but still a high idle. took it to ford yesterday and they ran a diagnostic on it and said that the parameters coming out of the computer were wrong and that it needed to be replaced. the computer has a warranty of 8yrs and 80,00 miles so thay are paying for that and my rent-a-wreck i haven't gotten the vehicle back yet but i will keep ya'll posted. What happened to good ford qaulity vehicles.

thanks for your time thought i would let ya'll know
