Swapping my stock 98 intake for an 03 k&n CAI

I met this guy who is selling his k&n intake to me for $25, now he has an 03 Explorer xlt, and I have a 98. We both have the 4.0L SOHC, and I was questioning on whether or not that his CAI is compatible with mine. Seeing as how he has a 3rd gen and I have a 2nd gen. So, the question is; Can I take his CAI and put it in my 98, and put my stock intake into his 03?

They are different but I have a k&n for a 2nd gen that I would trade you for that 3rd gen one if its complete and in good usable shape. PM me if interested.

Well he is giving me two kits. One of them has just about a years worth of usage, and the one I'd be putting in, if it fits ,only has 3 months of use. If they dont fit I'll buy them and pm you for that trade. Since he's getting rid of his 03, he's giving me his HIDs with the intakes, if you're interested in those too.
