all you need is the mazda 5 speed that will bolt up to the engine

A T-5 will work. I'm doing some research to do the same. I'm tired of the Mazda,. With the plans that I have this year for it, I'll chew the thing right apart. I'm going to need the extra torque capacity of a T-5.

ya but for a 12year ohv it will hold up just fine

There is a good chance that he may be looking to do a little more with it. Besides give the guy a break for having a little inspiration to mod outside the bolt on world.

I too am thinking of doing the same thing. I've got a '92 with 200K on it. It's getting relegated to off road and snow duty. We're going to rebuild the motor and although our A4LD hasn't had any problem, they have a bad rep (as do the Mazda gearboxes). I figured that since I'll be using the truck more aggresively, AND I've got a T5-Z sitting unused in my garage that it would be worth researching.

Any outfit other than AA sell conversion stuff?

Regards,

Peter

I'm talking with a guy on RPS that has some info from Sven, on how to do this. With a T-4 bell housing, and a bunch of other parts from random years. There is another Co. Called Central Coast Mustangs, that was making a complete kit, Bell housing, Clutch disc, TOB, pilot, steel braided lines, ect ect. I am having trouble locating them. I am trying to get a hold of someone else I know that has purchased/ installed this kit, but he doesn't want to answer his pm's I'll keep bugging him.

Hi,

I spoke with Advanced Adapters and they have nothing for this conversion.

As per your lead, I spoke with the guy at what is now called Central Coast Performance and while they offered a kit to install a T5 is 2WD Rangers a while ago, it's no longer available. It included a custom bell housing, custom TO bearing arrangement and some other fabbed parts.

He commented that the guy who manufactured the kit for them told him that it would not work on a 4WD. Whether this means it precluded 4WD or just didn't offer all the stuff for 4WD, he didn't know.

BTW, he does have one of the custom bell housings left for anyone that's interested. He said he wanted $349 for it. Their number is (661) 823-2400.
