Hey everyone im stuck once again ! yesterday my T-stat gauge went to the very high side just at idle and stayed there for a while so I shut it off and opend the hood for like 45 min to let it cool. When I turned it back on it was ok still alittle high but no where near as bad. I went and bought a 195t-stat, and silicone and when I got home I drained the fluid so I could go change the t-stat.

Everything so far was going well when I could only get to one bolt on the t-stat cover the other two were impossible to get at. Its a 94 XLT with with a/c which one of the hard lines it sitting right in the way! so any and all help is greatly appreciated thanks again, Jon.

I changed the t-stat and the heater core on my 94 XLT about 4 weeks ago. and yes it is a PITA to get at. I used a quarter inch drive ratchet with two extensions and universal joint to get the lower bolt off and a (i believe) 10 mm open end wrench to get the upper left one (facing the engine) took me forever it seemed like I also took tension off of the serpentine belt and removed the alternator and upper radiator hose for extra room but that isnt really necessary. If it makes you feel any better it went back together a bunch easier than it came apart it only took about 10 minutes to get it back together.

thanks for the info and reasurance lol yeah its 10mm it took me long enough to just figure that part out lol .

It's possible, I did mine about a year ago. It was about 30 degrees out and it sucked, use extensions, joints etc. till you find the right angle and a rag in the socket will hold the socket on the bolt tight.

For future reference you don't need to drain the fluid the change the thermostat. Some will leak out but not that much.
