Hey guys. Since I got the Explorer, the tach will not work. On my old battery, when I would crank the engine to start, the tach would literally spin around a few times and settle at 3k rpm. When I go it'll only move a little bit.

I was looking at the manual and it shows that the cluster comes apart. Do you think there is something wrong with the tach itself? Or wherever the tach gets it's signal from? I'll try to shoot a Youtube video tomorrow and load it onto here.

If I could just get a tach from a junkyard, that'd be awesome. Even though it's an automatic, I just want everything to work as supposed to. Plus it'd be nice to see what its revving at for fuel economy reasons haha.

:salute:

Most likely your gauge is screwed up. Check the circut from the EDIS module to the gauge and the gauge ground. Your truck runs fine so i think the problem is the gauge or circutry, not the EDIS module.

You can pull the gauge out without removing the cluster, but there is still alot of disassembly involved.
