I'm finding it really difficult to get the seats and trim panels out in my 2006 XLT. I'm also finding it hard to figure out where to bring in the amp power cable without taking the entire dash apart - which I wouldn't even know how to do.

I'm not a car person, but I've done installs before, namely in an 01 Santa Fe and an 08 Dodge Ram - both of which were fairly simple to work around in.

Anyone have a guide somewhere for a step by step on removing things in this vehicle?

Well, I do not have the teardown for the interior of your truck, but as far as the Primary wire for an amplifier; I would bring it up through the floorboard or near the lower portion of the firewall, on the same side as the battery. It is how I have pulled through the cable on almost every install I have done.
Just drill a hole slightly larger than the size of the cable you plan to use. Run it through, and the fill the gaps back up with a good sealer (I generally just lay a layer of bondo on the inside and outside). This is just to keep water from coming into the truck too. If you run your cable right and secure in the right places, it should have almost no movement around the hole, but plenty of slack on either side.
If you don't like that idea, I have also had a request to run the cable (and secure it) to the inside of a frame rail, and then I came up through the bottom of the trunk. This was easier than trying to run it all through the car, but also left a lot more chance for the cable to get damaged from exterior forces (This cable actually was cut while the guy was driving, since it was on a low rider import car). But, he was admimant about not having a hole in the floor board.
