TC input shaft pocket needle bearing removal

Hello EF,

I am going through my BW 4411 transfer case. Any tips on removing this pocket bearing from the input shaft? The needle bearings are too close to the bottom of the cup for my bearing removal tool to get under. Appreciate any advice.

I’ve seen axle grease and paper towels, and shop rags used for this with surprising success. Soak and warm the housing. The punch needs to be very tight, especially with needle bearings. I’d put the punch in the freezer, as well.
