thank you for this site. I own an 89 ranger and just purchased a 97 mercury mountaineer (aka explorer). It is nice to have a place to find answers without speaking to a mechanic. I have owned the mountaineer 2 days and have already changed the cam shaft sensor and it starts like the fuel filter is about half clogged the rear wiper does not work and some dash lights out but I got a great price and only 108K on it. I have no idea how many miles on the ranger I bought it 8 years ago from its 3rd owner. I paid him 800 dollars and has been a great commuter veicle.
