2001 Explorer sport 2wd
First post ever on a forum so I'm here to learn. Mostly a jeep guy but just picked up a 2001 Explorer sport 2wd from my daughter with the abs light on. Leaning towards lower ball joints as the cause after reading some posts earlier.:salute:

I also want to add that 9/10 times its the rear speed sensor (located on top of the differential)

After reading many of the posts here, I saw that it was a very common problem for our trucks. So without getting the codes pulled I decided to throw the dice (sensor was only $8.99) and that did the trick.

Thank you, I will try that first chance I get. Heck of lot easier than ball joints for now.

Remember to disconnect the battery while doing it.

lower ball joints will not trigger an abs light

sensors trigger abs lights, that can be caused by 3 different things,
front sensor that has gone bad,
rear sensor is gone bad,
or a front wheel bearing had gone bad,

if it is not making any noise in the front like a grinding i would say it is probably a sensor,
Check/change the back one first , it is usually the one ,,,

mine was,,
