I have rarely used my horn, but I did today to get someone to move on a green light and I really wish I wouldn't have. It's so weak sounding it sounds like an import. Is it easy to replace the whistle? I just want a basic swap to sound at least like the 1st gens. It's like night and day between the two.

Added: Could I just yank one out of a first gen and do a straight up swap?

It use to really bother me the way the horn sounds and I have to keep reminding myself that its not that (pooop) bad. I found that it sounds much better outside than (POOOP) in. :D

I just don't think it gets the point across. I hit the horn and people start looking around like "what the hell was that?" and start swatting for insects. I don't want to go with an aftermarket unit, but figure it would be easy to just pull a horn from the salvage yard and plug and play.

Yeah its plug and play. The insulation in the truck makes it sound less than it is. You should go down the block and let someone give it a few toots and see how you like it. It may seem not so bad hearing outside the vehicle. I do know what you mean though. I checked to make sure that both were working, the first time I heard my horn.

If anyone was around I'd have them take a listen. Unfortunately I'm 1 out of 10 people on this entire campus right now. I may leave it depending on how it sounds, otherwise I'm going to pull a horn as soon as I have some more time.

Buy a Rolls Royce, they have two horns. A city horn and a country horn :p

Oh how silly of me. I've been thinking about remedying this problem completely wrong. Easiest solution: Get a Rolls Royce. Now why didn't I think of that! EF is always here to get me back on track! :chug:

EBI, I'm also a Spartan and can listen to your horn. The one in my 92 X sound pretty wimpy also, so I feel your pain. I remember the first time I hit it, I started looking around to see who was honking at me from their '85 Honda Civic! It's low on the list of things needing replacement unfortunately...

I'm quite happy with the model K..
