Well I had my "auto buddy" come over, and he told me what would be needed to lift the explorer. This is what if I recall right he said.

Well first we called Fly-N-Hi see if they had any kits for the 95 IFS, they said they have the (part #9637) 4" Superlift kit, that has dropdown brackets for $1450, my buddy said that seemed a bit odd, so I looked online, and found the same kit for $527 (cha-ching)

Then for the back just use blocks and make a 3-link suspension or something. Which he said is pretty cool or something, I dunno anything about it.

Then a PA 3" body lift.

Think I'm gonna put 35x12.5 Thornbirds on. Prolly just gonna keep the cheap'o rims that are on the explorer right now, or buy the heavy steel rims, so if i bend/break a rim or something, it won't cost hardly anything to replace it.

He also suggested switching out the differentials/gears since with the bigger tires the tranny will be working much harder with the stock gears.

Does this sound about right? I have total faith in my buddy, I mean the guy's a genious. Just wanted to throw it up, to see if anyone had any comments or anything.

Any comments/suggestions are glady welcomed!!

klowns, could you tell me where you found that kit at?? I'm very interested.

Now I could tell you, but if I'm wrong dont' make fun of me. hehe..

I just did a 2 second look online for it, and this is what came up, I'm not sure if it comes with everything, or really what it comes with, but he said he could make it work, and throw in about 200-300 for parts, or things that he might have to make, or things that just didn't come with it..... Bear with me, I'm just a bystander, he's the craftsman, heh.

This is the first link I got, Since you guys seem so jumpy about it, I'm guessing it's missing some parts, he did say it was missing the shocks, but he could get some pretty cheap, dunno about anything else.

Klowns, you are the man :D

I had no idea I could buy the kit in pieces. That should work for you. Good luck :)

wow! that's pretty cool. i don't really want to keep the t-bars... but for that price...... hmm..

My thoughts exactly. I can deal with having the torsion bars hanging down for 500 bucks.

That kit isn't even listed on superlift's website. They do list a front kit for 98-99 Rangers and the model numbers are only slightly off. That louisville site is the only site I have found with any info on it.

Excellent Find Klowns!!!

May have to make a couple of calls tommorrow,

Robb

Louisville 4wd. LOL! Been there before and didn't go back.

That place is a fawking HOLE.

Way overpriced on most things. Lemme see what I can do about a price on that kit from a friend of mine now that I know the p/n..

Hole or no Hole if they are really selling it for that much, I'll take it, and as far as you checking to see if your buddy can get it, I'd take a more reliable source (you), then get it from them if your friend can get it.

As for making a few phone calls tomorrow I will be doing the same, I found that site, after all the shops anywhere were closed. If you find any info post it here ASAP.

I'm hoping that Lousiville 4wd isn't a flake or something.

their rear leaf spring lift seems a bit pricey, but damn, what would be needed to make that $527 lift work?

Shocks front and rear. SOA kit. Brakeline extensions (or modifications). Pinion angle shims, and a modified or new front driveshaft. Torsion Bar isolator. For 2 door models, you may need rear driveshaft mods as well.

Like I said I'm pretty new to all this, I still haven't figured out what "SOA" is. Could someone give me a quick downlow on it.

SOA = Spring over axle

And i agree with CoryL i have seen that place and didn't like it. Now if we could have someone with a newer model ex with the 4" superlift verify the part # that would be great. I'm considering the 4" superlift sometime this winter, but debating what to do about installation. CoryL lives by me and he's a very big 4X4 guy (hell look at his truck) but he's sooo busy i don't think i could bother him to help, Installation is the only thing really holding me back on this lift.

I too am very interested....I would love to do the SOA and Superlift 4".

Does this one piggyback the existing torsion bar mounts?? Or would the 95 people have to grind off, and re-weld?

from what i hear on the 95-97 models, they piggyback now

I just called the Lousville 4x4 site, and the lady that I talked to said, that i theory you need to get the 9637 ($527) and the 9633 ($980) and the leaf springs and rear kit, I'm not worried bout the rear, cause my buddy is doing all this.

And I'm not sure exactly if both the kits are needed for the front, my buddy didn't seem to think so, anyone else shed some light upon this?

Sick! I am in on the front if it is not a bunch of smoke and mirrors.

Does this mean no more Torsion bar Isolators??

Called Superlift, they said the 9637 Is just the Knuckles, so you need to get the 9633 and 9637 for the full front end.
