I have been thinking about getting a new dvd headunit for the Explorer and have been looking at a couple of In dash dvd units to replace my Panasonic dvd unit. The first one is the Clarion VZ400 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390212846538&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT and the second is the Pioneer AVH-P5200BT http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-AVH-P52...105?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f72ba529. They are both comparable units as in having the same features. They both have bluetooth built in and iPod controls. What I like about the Clarion unit is that the USB connection for the iPod is located in the back which is what I want to keep a clean looking install and the price is about $100 cheaper. But the user interface is pretty bland(not real pretty to look at). The Pioneer is a better looking unit to me but the USB connection is on the front and I do not care for that too much because I am going to be using the iPod touch mainly for my music. I would appreciate it if you guys gave me some input on what unit you would prefer.

Personally I dont trust motorized screens. Just something to go wrong. But thats just me. One thing I noticed is the clarion only has 2 volt pre outs while the pioneer has 4 volt. I too prefer rear usb so you can run the cable to the glove box and keep you ipod or in my case an 8gb flash drive out of sight. If the Panasonic isnt in immediate need of replacement id wait and save up some more money to get a nice double din AVIC with 4 volt pre outs and rear usb like this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-AVIC-Z110BT-CD-MP3-DVD-SD-USB-PLAYER-GPS-7-LCD-/330505475593?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf3a95609

^^ I agree.

I've had my Alpine DD for 4 years with no isssues at all. It doesn't have bluetooth or nav but does have ipod control. I just bought a new Alpine INA-W900 for our Explorer, it has built-in nav, ipod control with video, and bluetooth ready. I'm liken so far.

I suggest fo somewhere where they have them on display and play with them to see which one you like more, user friendly and all. If you haven't done that already.

I was looking at the double din units but that means I have to relocate my EQ and there is just not to many options to mount the EQ in the Explorer. If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears.

Ah. An eq. They are nice and pretty and its location allows you to make adjustments on the fly. In that case id find a single din motorized with rear usb and 4 volt pre outs. But if you aren't married to the eq and the ability to make adjustments on the fly but still want an eq you can get a unit that you can mount in the rear with the amps. Unless your speakers are powered by the head unit. And in that case I really hope you bypassed that nasty ol factory amp.
