A little nugget I found in the online manual :

Extending the Vehicle Run Time

Repeat Steps 1 and 2(Lock and remote start button twice) with your vehicle still running to extend the run time for another remote start duration.

If the duration is set to last 10 minutes, the duration will extend by another 10 minutes beginning after what is left of the first activation time.

For example, if your vehicle had been running from the first remote start for five minutes, your vehicle will continue to run now for a total of 15 minutes.

There are all kinds of little bits of info like this in the Owner's Guide. That is why it should be read thoroughly and more than once from time to time. There is a lot of info to absorb. Too much for a quick 'once over' read and too much to remember at times.

Hi JohnBoyToo and Peter,

The Owner's Manual is a wonderful thing, don't you think? :) It's amazing all the great tips and tricks you can discover by becoming well-acquainted with your vehicle's documentation. Thanks for sharing the wealth with the rest of the community! :)

The Owners' Guide is a handy thing to have but I've found that the online manual is easier to use. It is sometimes very frustrating trying to find something in the printed manual since what I'm looking for isn't always shown in the index or has a different name. I tried looking up 'camera' under 'C' in the index once and couldn't find it. Later found it is listed under 'R' for Reverse Camera.
By downloading and saving the online manual, I can bring it up and do a 'Find' on specific words. Much easier.

I completely agree, Peter. I recommend checking out http://owner.ford.com on occasion to see if a new printing of your specific manual has been made available for download.

I agree that the owners manual (and any manual for that matter) is necessary for a thorough understanding and enjoyment of your vehicle. It's a little frustrating that the manual is so generic and your specific vehicle may not have all of the "bells and whistles" but you should always read it before you do any significant amount of driving. Seems like some of the "bells" are software related and would be easy to "sell and install", like the auto window and remote start features for example. Get a lot of "dear in the headlights" when I mention these things to my advisor.
