A locker would be great, but if neither front wheel is spinning you should fix your 4wd first.

That is what I am trying to do right now I was asking if a weak vac solenoid on the axle would cause it to not spin on the ground but work fine on the jack stands. I know if I spool it it will add presure to other parts of the drivetrain and will take care of that when it comes up this is a hobby for my dad and daughter to do while I work on it for them so we take it one step at a time

well poop. im d4. limited slip 3.73 :(

You guys are all barking up the wrong tree IMHO... The center axle disconnect that breaks the front passenger side axle shaft on the 95-96 model year 4x4s is likely either failing to lock, or popping out when under load. That's where I'd start looking first.

Options? Swap the front axle assembly with one from a 97-01 that doesn't use the CAD, or adapt a unit from 4x4 posi-lok that fits a 97-03 F-150 to manually lock the shift fork in place. Those would be my best two suggestions.

That is, of course, assuming the transfer case is, in fact, locking up solid. No way to know that for sure across the interweb.

i think the transfer case is not locking in from what i can see

if it is the tcase why will it work on jack stands? you can hear it lock into low but still has the same results.

The transfer case can be locked, but if the axle shaft is in two pieces (whether broken or not locked in at the CAD) the net result is the same: No power to the front wheels. From the video, that's all you can tell.

Low range does not equal locked on a second gen. The two are not mutually inclusive. Just because low range is engaged does not mean the case is locked, and just because the case is locked doesn't mean the power is going to reach the front wheels, especially on a 95 or 96 model Explorer.

im sure the axle is not broke as ive been under and looked at that. it works in the air but not on the ground. is there any way to lock the cad? is it vacumn that looks it in?

beheivjer what kind of exhaust u got the sport it sounds nice

so u have no exhaust on ur 95

sounds awesome

from what you are describeing it is in the transfer case it is not fully locking in that is why it will spin in the air and not on the ground just like if you jack up the front end of a front wheel drive car and put it in nutral with it running the front wheels will spin same principal as soon as you let it done they will stop spinning

if you have a broken trans fer case the front drive shaft will not spin if it is an axel it will spin so you have to have some one in side {you trust}heve it in 4 wheel drive have them put it in gear look underneth and see if the drive shaft is moveing

lt me know what you find

Yeah I agree you should start with the Tcase first and make sure the fluid is full and what not.
