So the past two times I've used 4wd on my explorer, I'll get a thump right under my feet every say 30-45 seconds or so when I'm driving at more than 20mph or so.

Its not a thump thump thump or anything like that. My truck will just be driving along. Then I'll feel like someone kicked the underside of my truck under my feet. Then it'll be fine again for 30 to 45 seconds. Then another single thump.

Its only in 4wd. Anyone have any clue what that could be? Is that a bad U-Joint in the front drive shaft? Never had that happen before.

Thank you!

Does it have the Automatic hubs?

Hello again FR!

Yes, it is a limited with the automatic hubs.

Waaaaaaaasssup!

I'd start looking there.

Sounds like you got a sticky or broken one.

Dammit FR... with all this stuff breaking, its almost like I'm driving a 20 year old vehicle!

Thanks for the help again.

P.S. You have the one color of limited explorer that I never had. I have the teal and the white versions. I'll complete my set someday!!

I hear ya there;

When I bought mine I expected more trouble than I got though.

I Just started hit'n all the basics, inspected everything and began replacing the wear items and making improvements along the way.

I paid $1500 and have invested about $1700 more.

I now have a $3200 truck that runs like new.

$3200 was the current Blue book last I checked.

When all the suspension, interior mods, paint and rehab is done I expect to be in it for about $7000

And you can't buy a rig that cherry for no $7000.

And that cost will be spread out over 5 years.

Mine is about the most rust free clean unrestored 20 year old truck I have ever seen. I'm in Love. Can you tell?
