When I'm driving on the highway around 60mph, and take my foot off the gas, i hear a thumping sound coming from what sounds to be the rear of the truck. It actually feels like im going over small bumps in the road that at a steady beat. as soon as i step on the gas again, it goes away. also, as i slow down more and more, i start to hear like a "winding down" sound. also, i have 4X4 .Any ideas? Thanx

check all your fluid levels. without actually riding in the truck I can't be of much help. Check like your tranny level, T case, differential... etc

George

how do you check the diff and tcase levels?

well if anyone cares heres what the problem was

I got 2 new tires on the rear of the car, the fronts had 27,000 miles on them. apparently the rear tires were 1/4" taller becuase of the tread wear, which was making the 4X4 attempt to engage while i was driving at highway speeds. i guess the sizer difference made a slight difference in speed between the rear and front wheels. got new tires on the front and the noises are gone

wow... I never would have thought that. Although since your truck is only 2 years old, it shouldn't have been anything more.

Sorry I could not have been of more assistance. I have been very busy with school and going to the SkillsUSA competition.

I guess the newer sensors/computers are very sensitive. Have a good one!!

I am not sure if this helps any but I had similiar problems. Turns out the rear differntial was fried. They replaced it with a complete new one, also the tranny had been out of alignment, and was missing dare I say fluid. How? I mean the thing is sealed right? Well they fixed that and played with the solinoids. The problem went away for 6 months and now have the same issues again. At the time the truck was at 15k.

(all warranty work)
