Tilt wheel-After-market Cruise

I just purchased yesterday a 98 Explorer Sport . It
appears that the Ford Dealer installed cruise control
where the Tilt Wheel lever should have been.All of the
other 98's in the Auto Trader show the cruise built into the steering wheel.

The cruise works okay but I cannot figure out how to
adjust the Tilt Wheel.Moving the Crusie control lever
does not move the Tilt wheel. I believe the Tilt Wheel
comes standard with all Explorers made in 98.

Any suggestions how to adjust the tilt wheel

Yeah thats definately an add on.

It should have a tilt wheel, but its possible they removed the ability to tilt it in order to have the cruise...

Are you sure that the truck has tilt wheel? The base model Sport (in '99, at least) didn't have tilt wheel or cruise. Ford actually make a kit to install the factory style cruise control with the controls on the steering wheel. I installed it in mine a few years ago.

The 98 Explorer was purchased for my wife. The owner
told us that the SUV had a tilt wheel and we believed
him.It is a very nice vehicle except for this tilt issue.
My wife needs the steering wheel lowered to see the
road safely.I drove the SUV home about 200 miles and she followed in her Neon.

Yesterday she called the owner and he stated the tilt
lever was right below the drivers left knee.He said he
uses it all the time.This morning I went to my local
Ford dealer and the service mgr. did a quick inspection
and said this Explorer does not have a Tilt Steering
Wheel.I asked him if the wheel could be lowered to
a fixed position. He stated this was not possible. We never would have bought this 98 Explorer without
an adjustable steering wheel.
