So the guide blew out on the left bank. Pulled the engine and have stripped down the motor. When I removed the valve cover my fear was confirmed. When looking at the jackshaft chain the tensioner there blew off. The valve cover is cracked, i can only assume from the chain whipping around in there. Removed the tensioner and it was fully seized. The right bank is looking good and I plan to replace at the same time.
My issue is that when I got the OTC 6488 tool and went to place the crank at TDC, The right bank is in time. The cam shaft marks are parallel to the top of the head. The left bank...not so much while at TDC seems to be off by about 45 degrees. #5 piston looks as if it is at TDC when #1 is at TDC.
Will be performing a leak down test tonight. If the leak down goes well should I not have a worry of having bent valves?
