2004 Explorer LTD V8
hi all,
I am new to this forum so please forgive me if my post sounds like a newly...
i need to replace my tires, still have the original 17" wheels, i like the look of the BF Goodrich KO2, reviews are amazing for all type of users.
Does anyone on this forum have any experience with these tires on an Explorer ?

The KO2 are "LT" not "P" rated tires with a D1 load range you can run up to 65psi, quite a hard ride and overkill unless you are spending more time off road than on road with this vehicle.

A slight step down would be Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar which would bring you back down to normal tire pressures and give you a treadwear warranty.

Great tire IF you're gonna be running down gravel roads. But they're noisier and rougher riding than passenger tires. They last a long time - an honest 40K miles. I've got over 40K on mine and I think they'll be good for another year. I wouldn't put them on my wife's Explorer because it is exclusively on pavement.

KO2's are good tires, but it depends on the trails you're going to conquer. If you need all-sound tires, I recommend Cooper A/T, Terra Grapplers or the General Grabber AT.

I found about that high inflation pressure on a set of junk yard tires. When I did the first test drive I was saying, "No wonder these thing have a rep for roll-overs!"
Go with the soft tires if you aren't climbing rocks.

I thought I'd post this for the benefit of anyone that may come across this thread looking for cheap tire options. This is the cheapest set of new tires I've been able to find.
