hey guys ive been noticing a lot lately that my tires are rubbing on the shocks of my lif kit. its the stage two lift with 2.5 inches, with a skyjacker spring replacing their questionable jb brand spring. the lift is between 3.5 - 4 inches now, well within the tolerences of the kit, and there is plenty of slack in the abss and brake hoses. on the second shock back from the wheel ive been seeing these semicircular black marks and i finally figured out that its the dirt on my tires rubbing off on them.

when i turn my wheel from lock to lock he tires make contact with the shocks. not the end of the world, i know. i run the stock tire size of 235x75x15, so i am confused as to why this is happening. no on else has mentioned it. is there anything that i can do to create more clearance? especially since i want to increase tire size eventually.

less backspacing on the wheels and running the right springs for the kit. on the 5.5" kit the shocks are spaced differently to allow for more travel and bigger tires

even when i had the kit springs before they failed they were still rubbing on my shocks. with the 5.5 jd lift kit are the radius arms welded with differrent shock mounts? or can i respace my current shocks to help?

i cant say for sure, i havent been close enough to either to know how they are attatched, but the 1st step is to get wheels with less backspacing. Getting the tire further away from the shocks is going to be the easiest solution

I have a set of 1/2" wheel spacers.--

I know some guys hate wheel spacers-- but they have worked for me so far!

i dont know that much about wheel spacing. ive still got the stock wheel on my ex. if i switch to bigger tires i will get new wheels. but im going to wait on that until my current tires are worn down before i switch. any suggestions on wheel spacing to help with rubbing? are spacers the only answer?

Less backspacing is a better answer that spacers, but if you cant get less that 3.5" of backspacing then a spacer may be needed.
