2003 Explorer XLT 4.0
2003 4.0 SOHC pushing 220,000 miles. She is mint. While changing oil pan gasket 6+ months ago, I found a piece of the timing cassette - suspect the tensioner to chain between crank and jackshaft. But no symptoms other than a slight tapping noise.

I have ordered all the parts needed to do the timing chain/cassette job - plan to pull the engine. But while I am in there, I wonder what else could I do, how much further should I go.

I just checked oil pressure and she idles (warm) at about 13psi, 40psi at 2000rpms, oil pressure quite responsive to throttle input and needle steady. I am planning to check compression here soon also.

I will put in a new oil pump - deciding if I should go with high volume Melling and rear main seal. But any other ideas and tests suggestions are welcome.
