tranney wont stay in park

ok today got home from work and parked the x and got out and notice that the truck was still moving making a clunking noise got in and pushed up on the shifter and it was on park. dont now what to look at any one nows what to check please help thank you.

Sounds like your parking pawl is busted. This is in the tail portion of the tranny. There are instructions somewhere on here for replacing it, or you can take it to a tranny shop. Shouldn't cost too much.

Yep, looks like you found out the hard way the reason you're supposed to use the parking brake.

Do you know if you're '92 was taken in when Ford issued the recall for the Pawl? If not, it's probably too late to take it in, but you may want to have that checked out.
