tranny issues?

it only happen a couple of times but i want to find out if it is something i can fix before its gets to bad...

after cruising on the freeway, i start to slow down on the off ramp then slow down for the light. when i come up to stop the tranny feels like it is still in gear(OD) and starts to shutter.
one time i put in in nuetral then back in gear and everything is fine?
the second time i tried to just go through the stop sign and it bogged sown like it was still in overdrive. then i put in nuetral and back in gear and everything was fine again.

please help... i was hoping there was a relay or a switch i could replace.

i forgot to mention that i did check the fluid level and it is where it should be.

Others more knwledgeable may chime in here and give better advice, but the OD "shudder" you mention is usually an issue with the Torque Converter Clutch Valve hanging up. You might try swapping out the old fluid and replacing with new...this has helped on occasion. Otherwise there is a new stronger spring to replace behind this shuttle valve... but you have to remove the valve body (can be done with the transmission in the car).
