93 & 96 EB & XLT

Hey. Well I went offroading with my new manual hubs yesterday. Love them! This has happened one other time since I bought the car about a month ago. When it is really hot or been running a long time, like yesterday, getting out of a REALLY bad mud hole. Transmission fluid starts coming out at a quite rapid pace. It comes out near where the front tires end. Any ideas on what might cause this, I know you probably can't tell me what my leak is, but maybe why it only does it when the car is hot. Thanks.

check both the areas by the tranny cooler lines and the vent tube. I've had small amounts of fluid drip out of both after trail driving. The vent tube is due to the convertor being too small to hold the fluid when you're at extreme angles. The lines leak sometimes if the clamp comes lose. With it being by the front wheels this is what I'd guess. Does it still do it??

Best Guess..

Sounds like the front seal. Mine would leak intermittantly. I replaced the seal once, had to pull the tranny to do it. The second time it went the tranny was ruined. Keep an eye on it. If it is the front seal then your days are numbered. If yours is high milage it could be a worn or warped shaft.

Good Luck

Hey - Im about to go look down under there. The car has 164, 000 miles on it. The tranny was replaced right before I bought it. So I hope my days aren't #ed!

The thing is, when I bought it, the guy had had leaks just fixed down there. The people said that it could be a # of different leaks, because one caused another one to start leaking.
