tranny needed

a friend of mine needs a tranny for a 98 eddy. he has tried several from other models but not found one that fits. any1 that can help me out?

5.0 engine = 4R70w, 4.0 engine = 4R55e. I'm not sure how the transfer cases change the model number but there is a whole section on trans problems here.

I wouldn't try to retrofit a 2x4 with the 4x4 unless you know about tearing down the entire trans.

I have heard about people trying to substitute a 4r50w with a 4r50e with bad electrical results.
