K so i got the tranny in. Started it and it started to make a ticking noise and droppin fluid out of the front by the engine. So I will recheck all the bolts and the seals. Any other ideas on what else to check and what the ticking noise could be? I'm so frustrated that I need to step back and take a brake.:splat:

I don't have an auto, but from what I've read they like to puke out the front when bad.... Or just too annoy people. LOL, I've read about people that had it puke (and happened to a woman at my wifes work), the added more fluid and it was fine...until it puked again. ?? Where did you get this tranny, was it a good known to work tranny?

Sorry it took a couple days to get back to you. It was from a junk yard and when I told them that it was rattling and puking he said "that was suppose to be the only good thing on that truck." Thanks retard for testing it.:fire: So I went to another yard and got one. Just something to inform future people trying this project. Your tranny is 4.96 liters or something close to that but you will need a lot more fluid than that. Also don't forget the transfer case needs 2 quarts. I'm on six for the tranny and still going. I will post later how it goes. Looks good so far.:biggthump

A slight bit of play between the front and rear drive shafts while in 4 wheel drive is normal and acceptable, but only a little bit. If it starts to get excessive start saving for a transfer case.

K so let me ask some questions. when I had my transfer case off the truck. I was able to twist both the front and rear at the same time or move one then move the other. Is that ok? Tranny in and running seams to be running great. Besides leaking anything else I should watch closely for the thirty day warranty? Before I had enough tranny fluid in it I tryed to put it in 4 wheel drive and it didn't work. sounded like it was trying but started to smoke but some of the smoke is from all the tranny oil from the first time the tranny was bad. any thoughts on that and if I dare to try it again.

for the transfer case it depends on what was engaged if you don't know then the test is useless. i assume the shift motor or the shift motor bushings are bad if it wont engage

i talked to my brother and he said sometimes the motor sticks and you have to tap them with a hammer if they are not used often.he said to use the 4 wheel drive from time to time so this doesn't happen. I guess things get rusty. His best friend bill has a 1993 explorer. I asked him about my issue I am having and he has no idea.

As of right now the tranny seems to be working and with how busy this week is im not going to try the 4x4 till next week. Thanks for you help. Jason what issue are you having?

tranny issue. it doesn't want to change gears until it warms up. it will ether stay in first gear in drive or 2nd if i have it in over drive until it warms up. after it warsm up then it changes gears.

Hey Fred, great to hear it seems ya got it going, I've been out of touch since Friday. So when you tried to put it into 4x4 what exactly happened? Like did the lights come on? And I couldn't see the shift motor or the transfer case "smoking" for any reason, at least just not from trying to turn it on! I've repaired my shift motor myself so this I know about!
